Is a TV in the bedroom bad feng shui?
Feng shui says a TV facing the bed works against rest: its dark screen acts like a mirror, sending the bed back at you, and a bedroom is meant to be still. Tonight, drape a cloth over the screen; then move the TV out of the bedroom, or to a side wall where the bed does not face it.

Why a dark screen reads as a mirror
Switched off, a TV is a sheet of dark glass. Feng shui reads it as it would a mirror: whatever faces it comes back, and a bed at its foot is seen in it all night.
The bedroom asks for stillness; it is the one room where chi should come to rest. A screen brings the opposite, light and sound and the pull of one more episode, and many people notice the evening drifts later and goes to the screen rather than to each other.
The same reading covers the bedside: a router, chargers and a tangle of cables keep a room busy even when no one is looking at them.
What to look for in your room
A TV, or another large dark screen, sits at the foot of the bed facing it; chargers, a router or speakers crowd the bedside.

How to fix it, in order
Tonight, before bed, a plain cotton or linen cloth over the screen turns the dark glass back into furniture, and the bed no longer shows in it. Lift it off when you watch; put it back at bedtime.
A bedroom without a screen answers the rule in full: the TV goes to the living room or the den. Where the bedroom is also where you watch, set the TV against a side wall, where the bed does not face it and it does not face the bed.
A router and the other devices that stay on all night keep the room from settling. Move them to the hall or the living room; where one has to stay, set it at least six feet from the bed.
Feng shui holds that tangled cords make for tangled thoughts. Gather the chargers and cables at the bedside into one closed box.
Questions people ask
You can, as long as the bed does not face it. Feng shui minds the dark screen at the foot of the bed more than the TV itself, so a side wall and a cloth at night answer most of it; a bedroom without a screen answers all of it.
On a side wall rather than at the foot of the bed, so the bed and the screen do not face each other. The best place for it is another room.
Feng shui reads it that way: switched off, the screen is dark glass, and the bed shows in it through the night. The answer is the same as well: keep the bed out of the glass. A mirror facing the bed →
A screen you can put away does not face the bed through the night. Put it away at bedtime and charge it outside the bedroom or in the cable box, so the bedside stays quiet.
